A photograph of a panel discussion on a dimly lit stage. Six people are seated in a row facing the audience. Behind them, a large projection screen reads 'CARSEY-WOLF CENTER' and 'UC SANTA BARBARA'. Below the logos, a list of participants is visible, including 'Moderated by Ross Melnick,' 'Rick Rosen,' 'Jennifer Howell,' 'Ian Kretzberg,' 'Lisa Parks,' and a final panelist named Wolf.

The Carsey-Wolf Center's new initiative launch brought industry titans and HFA scholars together, underscoring the division's key role in the global conversation on AI.

The Carsey-Wolf Center launched its new multi-year research initiative, "Media Industries and AI," with a timely and critical panel discussion. The event brought together media executives, scholars and analysts to explore how AI is reshaping film, television and gaming.

The panel featured industry-defining voices, including HFA supporters and UC Santa Barbara Foundation Trustees Dick Wolf (Wolf Entertainment) and Rick Rosen (WME Agency). They were joined by Jennifer Howell (Deep Voodoo), Ian Krietzberg (Puck), Elliot Wolf (Wolf Games) and Lisa Parks, Distinguished Professor of Film and Media Studies at UCSB. The panel was moderated by Professor and Carsey-Wolf Center Interim Director, Ross Melnick.

The event underscores the deep connection between our division and our community leaders. We are proud to have newly appointed four supporters with strong HFA ties serving on the UC Santa Barbara Foundation Board of Trustees, who lend their expertise and vision to the entire campus:

  • Michael Christian, Chairman of Risk Strategies

  • Jane Gottlieb, Acclaimed fine art photographer

  • Rick Rosen, Co-founder of WME Agency

  • Dick Wolf, Creator/Producer of Wolf Entertainment
