The UC Santa Barbara Writing Program is pleased to announce the creation of the Charles Bazerman Endowed Faculty Fellowship for Professional Development in Writing. This endowed fund supports an annual, competitive, two-course fellowship for a Continuing Lecturer in the Writing Program. The fellowship provides a one-quarter sabbatical during which the lecturer can pursue research that will inform and enrich his or her teaching and advance knowledge in the field.

This endowed fellowship has been made possible by the generosity of Charles Bazerman, Professor of Education of the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Among Professor Bazerman's many achievements in the field of rhetoric and composition are his numerous books and edited collections, including Traditions of Writing ResearchGenre in a Changing WorldTextual Dynamics of the Profession, and the Handbook of Research on Writing. He has also been chair of the Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC), founded the Writing Research Across Borders conference, and was the inaugural Chair of the International Society for the Advancement of Writing Research.
