The UCSB Percussion Ensemble gave its performance for the quarter at Karl Geiringer Hall last week.

The program, titled “Mostly Mallets, almost entirely featured compositions which were written and arranged for keyboard percussion instruments like the xylophone, marimba and vibraphone.

Selections for the concert included pieces from a wide variety of artists, from classical composer J.S. Bach to more modern composers like Ivan Trevino and Bob Becker.

The performers included Vineta Muthraj, Nina Lim, Tom Hakanson, Jarod Fedele, Michael Sun, Ethan Wu, Keona Kaneshiro, Kenny Han, Christina Tao, Megan Cavanaugh, Cole Williams, Ethan Chiu on flute, Annie Lai on piano and the director of the ensemble Jon Nathan.

As students, the members come from diverse educational backgrounds. While some are Music majors, others study Engineering, Physics or Materials.

The ensemble’s next performance is scheduled for May 13, 2020.

Michael Hall is a fourth year Film and Media Studies major. He is a Web and Social Media Intern for the Division of Humanities and Fine Arts.
